SENSEI RAY'S BIO


Sensei Ray Kodani has trained in different arts growing up.

He has trained in Tae Kwon Do with the American Tae Kwon Do Association (ATA) while in elementary school. At that time, the school was on the corner of Fulton and El Camino in Sacramento, California.




While in high school, he trained in Aikido at River City Aikido in Sacramento, California.


Sensei Ray joined the United States Air Force in 1992 and was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. One of the movies he always watched was The Perfect Weapon with Grandmaster Jeff Speakman. So, he went out to find a Kenpo School. He signed up with Sensei Ron Heskett and Sensei Don Moore in Anchorage, Alaska. During this time, he was also able to start teaching private lessons. 




After leaving Elmendorf AFB, he was stationed in Texas and Illinois During this time he was able to continue training under Kevin Lamkin (American Kenpo Legacy Association) in American Kenpo Karate. He was able to get certified to teach under Mr. Lamkin.


Sensei Ray got out of the Air Force with an Honorable Discharge and is a Disabled Veteran. He had the privilege to train under Soke Frank Sanchez in San-Jitsu. Soke Sanchez formed The World Head of Family Sokeship Council which is a group of accredited recognized Masters and Grandmasters throughout the world. Soke Sanchez is a student of Sensei "Moon" Watanabe in Judo, and Profesor Sig Kufferath in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu.




While at a Black Belt testing in Los Gatos, California, Sensei Ray met Master Instructor Harry Greene. It was by chance that he was sitting next to him and didn't realize how close they lived to each other. Sensei Ray started training under him since then. They have gone around to different functions, seminars, and schools to give demonstrations of Grandmaster Harry Greene's Combative Knife, as taught to him while he attended Jungle School in Panama. After receiving his rank of Senior Sensei, he was given approval to start teaching Combative Knife/Hand to Hand.


Sensei Ray decided to teach these two arts to give everyone an opportunity to learn to defend themselves.
